In 1359 A.D. at Quan Shu Fortress in Manchuria, Sydney and Nigel are in search of a legendary "dragon's egg," believed to be an early form of nitroglycerine. However, their rival, Kane, has the crucial map but has fallen into the hands of a local warlord named Shandar. To retrieve the map, the pair must rescue Kane first. After a daring escape, they secure the map and locate the egg, but Kane and Shandar are hot on their heels. In a tense moment, Sydney uses the explosive to thwart their pursuers. Meanwhile, Claudia is preoccupied with a "fashion emergency," leaving temp Karen Petrusky to navigate a budget review for Sydney's Ancient Studies department.
