At the theater, Gary unexpectedly encounters his former friend, Marion Crumb, a retired Chicago detective who has embraced acting after being inspired by director Bonnie Rousseau. When an accident sidelines one of the lead actors, Bonnie persuades Gary to step in. As he immerses himself in the role, the production faces serious challenges, including a producer claiming rights to the venue and an arsonist targeting the cast. As Gary and Marion navigate these threats, they uncover troubling evidence against Bonnie, revealing her true intentions. With time running short before the performance, Gary must prevent Bonnie from abandoning her loyal troupe, or the show—and their dreams—will be ruined.
