After years of dedicated research, Dr. James Houghton and Dr. Charles McCamber have developed a groundbreaking device, the Scanning Molecular Reorganizer, capable of reviving the deceased. However, their first attempt—a middle-aged man who suffered a heart attack—ends tragically, as he only survives for a day in agony before dying once more. Their fortunes change when Houghton is murdered by a mugger outside their lab, prompting McCamber to use the SMR to bring him back. Now, Houghton wrestles with the choice of reconnecting with his estranged family or seeking revenge on his killer, all while facing unexpected challenges ahead.
