Frankie is overjoyed to discover that the Orson Community Theater is staging "The Wizard of Oz," and that all kids will be guaranteed roles as munchkins without auditions, which is ideal for her clumsy sister, Sue. However, everything takes a turn when Frankie is assigned a singing part and discovers that the director is dissatisfied with Sue's performance, putting her role in jeopardy. Meanwhile, Brick invites his unpredictable Uncle Rusty to his school's Special Friends Day, but things don't go as planned, leading to chaotic consequences.
