In the dead of night, Matlock gets a frantic call from a young man who previously painted his house. The man insists he’s been arrested for stealing a baldness cure formula from a company that supposedly fired his friend and appropriated his work. Just a day later, Matlock receives another call from the same individual, now accused of murdering the man he claims was behind the formula theft. The challenge is that Jeff Duvall’s story doesn’t hold up; not only did Tim Crider never ask him to steal the formula, but he wasn’t fired either!
