As Beatrice's health declines, she confronts her impending death, while those around her, except for Dharma, cling to denial. Dharma advocates for honesty and receives a valuable Stradivarius as a memento, shocking Kitty, who insists it should be in a museum—especially after hearing Dharma struggle with "Three Blind Mice" on it. Dharma uncovers that Beatrice opposed Edward and Kitty's whirlwind romance, and has refused to pass down the family engagement ring to Kitty. In a bid to reconcile before it's too late, Dharma attempts to honor Beatrice's wishes regarding the ring, but time slips away. In the end, Greg eagerly offers the Stradivarius for a recital, only to discover Dharma has switched to the trombone.
