Tom's opportunity to oversee the newspaper faces a setback when the printers decide to strike. In response, the entire family rallies together to find ways to make extra income. While Nancy feels let down by a modeling agent, Joan secures a job as a photographer to help during the strike. Once the strike is resolved, Tom and Joan find themselves in a disagreement about her decision to keep working.
