Bettany travels to the west bank of the Nile near Luxor, where the Ancient Egyptians interred their pharaohs for 500 years in the Valley of the Kings, including the young Tutankhamun. He then ventures over the hills to the Workers' Village, home to generations of skilled craftsmen who built the royal tombs. Interestingly, they also discarded a large amount of household waste, offering valuable insights into the everyday lives and concerns of ancient Egyptians. Continuing his journey, Bettany boards the SS Sudan, the Nile's oldest steamship, which served as an inspiration for Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile.
