As Jimmy flees from the witch, he stumbles and loses consciousness. When he regains awareness, he finds himself unable to recall anything, even his own name. The narrative unfolds through flashbacks as Pufnstuf and his friends attempt to help him regain his memories. However, when Jimmy strays away and encounters the sinister trees, they take him to Witchiepoo, who tries her own method. Ultimately, it’s a few falling pieces of the castle ceiling that trigger Jimmy's memory, bringing his past flooding back.
