Title: The Last Stand Plot: Major Cantwell eagerly anticipates his retirement from the military after being demoted from colonel due to "irregularities in records," a claim he insists is baseless. In a desperate act, he pilfers the camp's $32,000 payroll and wraps it up, asking Favor to send it for him. However, Kaster, Cantwell's former aide discharged for drinking, witnesses Favor with the package. Just as Cantwell's successor arrives with news of his promotion back to brigadier general, he sets off in pursuit of Favor and the package. Meanwhile, Kaster seizes the opportunity to snatch the package from Favor's saddlebag.
