As the Planeteers investigate this alarming situation, Ma-Ti, inspired by the detective novels of the 1940s, envisions himself as a noir detective in stylized black-and-white scenes. Initially, he struggles with his sleuthing skills, but eventually, he manages to locate Verminous Skumm, who is serving contaminated seafood at his eatery, The Sinking Ship, sourced from storm drain runoff.
