In a whimsical turn of events, the Keaton family finds themselves thrust into the year 1776 as Alex drifts into sleep while writing a college paper about Thomas Jefferson. In his dream, he discovers that history has taken an unexpected twist. Steven Keaton has assumed the role of Thomas Jefferson, recently declining John Adams' plea to draft the Declaration of Independence. With the course of history hanging in the balance, it's up to Alex to persuade his father to take on this monumental task and set things right.
