After receiving secret news that the King will be passing through Warmington-on-Sea by train, Capt. Mainwaring and his platoon are assigned to create a guard of honour. However, when a different train malfunctions on the main line, obstructing the King's path, the platoon quickly mobilizes to handle the situation.
