In the Pub (S01E02)

After the riot, the unsuspecting civil servant Dundridge is dispatched to Worford by manipulative ministers, as the Prime Minister insists on Handyman Hall as the sole route for the motorway. Once released from prison, Lady Maud secretly entertains Dundridge, using her charm to win him over. She is delighted when he concedes that the motorway should be a tunnel beneath the estate rather than cutting through it. Meanwhile, a troubled Sir Giles is eager to have his solicitor pay a young woman to get Dundridge intoxicated and compromise his position.
