Hart is deeply in love with his girlfriend, who shares his passion for the law. Together, they stumble upon a hidden collection of resources, including textbooks and notes from all the law school professors, including Kingsfield, which boosts their performance in Contracts class. Their relationship appears to be advancing when Hart is invited to spend the weekend at her father's home. The visit goes well, and Hart impresses her father, who asks him to help Nancy pursue her dream of becoming a lawyer. However, tragedy strikes when they learn of her father's murder in a gang-related incident. Nancy grapples with her father's criminal past while striving to maintain her relationship with Hart amid the chaos.
