Volchek spirals into despair after the hospital's closure. Meanwhile, Roger and Frank work to help him regain his sense of control and save Lynchboro. Vinnie confronts Kousakis upon discovering that the toxic waste being dumped is linked to a hepatitis outbreak at a nearby school. When Kousakis dismisses his concerns, Vinnie reacts violently. He attempts to report the hazardous waste to an official but soon realizes the man is corrupt and instructs Kousakis to eliminate him. Cornered, Vinnie defends himself by killing the two hitmen sent after him and escapes into the darkness. Roger departs, telling Frank to inform Vinnie that they are even now.
