Lynn's sister Tanya arrives in town to join the festivities marking the anniversary of Lynn's adoption. Tanya, who is white, has embraced African-American culture wholeheartedly. Maya quickly forms a bond with Tanya, but Joan and Toni become irritated with her perceived over-adoption of cultural traits, leading to a clash. Lynn and Maya stand up for Tanya, but she eventually crosses a line at the salon. In a separate storyline, Joan is busy planning a bachelor party for William.
