Maya decides to invite Darnell's girlfriend, Lena, to her Christmas gathering in a bid for goodwill. However, jealousy soon overtakes her, prompting Maya to enlist Jalen to pretend to be her date. Things escalate when Lena surprises Jabari with a Game Cube, despite his poor academic performance, leading Maya to accuse the couple of a lack of communication. Later, Maya spots Lena at the bar with another man, and finds herself unexpectedly trying to mend their relationship. Meanwhile, Joan goes overboard while planning a caroling event for their group.
