In a cherished summer event, Great Performances showcases the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra's concert held in the enchanting gardens of Schönbrunn Palace. Under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the Metropolitan Opera's music director, the orchestra explores a range of musical pieces, spanning from French Romanticism to Impressionism. The concert features the talented Elīna Garanča as a soloist, performing three stunning arias from “Carmen,” “Sapho,” and “Samson et Dalila.” Additionally, the program includes a debut piece by Lili Boulanger, the first woman to win the esteemed Prix de Rome in 1913.
