The team returns to the Furnace Cottage garden in Churnet Valley, where their earlier dig uncovered signs of iron production dating back to the Elizabethan era. Stewart examines the terrain to understand the water flow and other elements crucial for iron smelting. Meanwhile, John believes there's compelling geophysical data indicating a furnace located a mile away at Eastwall Farm, which might even be water-powered—a significant find. They construct a bloomery in the medieval style and are joined by historian Pete Brown and archaeologists David Cranstone, Bill Klemperer, Deb Ford, Gerry McDonnell, and Tim Young.
