Samantha assists a young boy named Johnny Mills in preparing for the Soap Box Derby. When Gladys boasts that her nephew will outperform everyone, Samantha steps in to fix Johnny's shaky wheel with her magic. She encourages Johnny's father to take part, but he insists that Johnny should focus on a future in medicine, not racing or mechanics. During the Derby, Gladys and Darrin keep a close watch on Samantha to prevent her from assisting Johnny, but he ultimately wins through sheer skill. The announcer seeks to applaud Johnny's father, who is absent. Samantha quickly returns to the garage, where Mr. Mills is swamped with work. She fixes a carburetor and three tires, urging him to hurry to the Derby to celebrate his son's victory.
