Title: The Second Verdict Plot: Ned Murray, a dedicated attorney, successfully defends Lew Rydell against a murder accusation, only to uncover that Lew is indeed guilty. Aware that double jeopardy protects Lew from retrial, Ned frantically searches for alternative means to ensure justice. He consults with gangster Tony Hardeman, who misreads Ned's intentions and plots to eliminate Lew. Sensing impending danger, Ned races to Lew's home but arrives just in time to witness Lew overpowering Tony, killing him in self-defense. This twist allows Ned to pursue charges against Lew for the new crime, but guilt weighs heavily on his conscience, leading him to defend Lew once more.
