It's Imogen's birthday, and at school, she's taken aback to find her fitness-obsessed mother involved in Tariq's rowing fundraiser. Jealousy bubbles over when Christine notices the bond forming between Connor and Imogen. Concerned that Connor is discussing her drinking issues with Imogen, Christine confronts him angrily. Connor, however, threatens to make her life difficult if she doesn't ease up. Later, at Imogen's birthday bash in the school house, an inebriated Sally shows up uninvited. Observing Imogen's discomfort, Connor steps in and asks Sally to leave. With a sense of safety, Imogen finally confides her secret to Connor. Meanwhile, rival headmaster Gerard spreads lies about Michael, and Sian attempts to reconnect Michael with his estranged father, Billy.
