Betty and Barney stumble upon a baby named Bamm-Bamm left on their doorstep and instantly fall in love with him. Eager to make him part of their family, they begin the adoption process, only to find out that the Welfare Bureau has already pledged the child to affluent Pronto Berger, who is backed by lawyer Perry Masonry. However, when Berger finds out that his wife is expecting, the Rubbles are unexpectedly allowed to adopt the little boy.
