In a brave attempt to save three teenagers from an exploding cannonball, Gary sacrifices his vision. While recovering in the hospital, he encounters a young boy named Nate Calvin, whose mother is gravely ill. The following day, despite his blindness, Gary learns that Nate is in danger, trapped inside a decrepit building. Determined to rescue him, Gary relies on his other senses and unwavering spirit to guide him through the darkness and bring the boy to safety.
