The Walshes decide to allow their maid’s exceptionally bright “niece,” Carla, to use their home address for her enrollment at West Beverly. Brandon quickly develops feelings for her, yet he’s puzzled by the disapproval from those around them. Carla shares her experience of witnessing a tragic drive-by shooting that took the life of a young child; she has been living with Anna while awaiting her testimony, under the protection of the D.A. Once one of the shooters confesses, Carla returns to her family. Meanwhile, Jim and Cindy host a gathering for his new client, a sportswear designer, which gives Dylan, Steve, and the girls some free apparel. David hopes to get MC Hammer to perform at the upcoming school dance.
