Kevin McCloud revisits an extraordinary Japanese-Welsh hybrid home nestled in the Wye Valley to assess how it fared during one of the wettest winters on record. Tamayo Hussey, who relocated to the UK with her husband Nigel 15 years ago, has longed for Japan ever since. To combat her nostalgia, they undertook the project of reinventing their home into a distinctive Japanese retreat, featuring a traditional roof bath, tatami room, and sliding paper walls. Kevin explores whether this transformation has succeeded in recreating the serenity and peace that Tamayo cherished from her childhood in Japan.
