Part Two (S01E02)

Eleanor begs Bold to stop his legal campaign against her father. Bold insists his fight isn’t personal—it’s aimed at the Church of England’s hypocrisy, where clergy live in comfort while the poor go hungry. Eventually, he relents and calls off the lawsuit, informing Archdeacon Grantly, Harding’s son-in-law. Eleanor and John agree to marry. But Harding remains deeply unsettled by the accusations. He travels to London to consult Sir Abraham Haphazard, the Church’s solicitor. Though the suit is dropped, Harding asks if he’s morally vindicated. Haphazard declines to comment on morality, so Harding decides to resign as Warden.
