A father discovers his son has died from a drug overdose. Fearing the impact this news will have on his wife, he chooses to report it as an accidental drowning. Quincy's friend Volmer, the local coroner, is unable to perform the autopsy due to political pressures and seeks Quincy's assistance. Meanwhile, Quincy also faces challenges with a textile mill owner who neglects to address safety violations. When an accident occurs, the owner tries to cover up the truth, adding to the tension that Quincy must navigate.
