Betty Jo finds herself smitten with Orville Miggs, a boy whose passion for cars overshadows any thoughts of romance. To him, Betty Jo is just a skilled assistant in his mechanical ventures. Concerned about her daughter's feelings, Kate believes that if Betty Jo embraces a more feminine style, Orville might finally see her in a romantic light. Despite their efforts, nothing seems to make Orville notice Betty Jo in the way she hopes, leaving her yearning for that elusive first kiss.
