The shooting of a city contractor, carried out in a professional manner, prompts Detectives Briscoe and Green to investigate the possibility of a hired assassin. Initially, they explore potential adversaries of the victim but soon turn their attention to the victim’s wife and her boyfriend as likely suspects for orchestrating the murder. However, new evidence later surfaces, revealing a conspirator who had previously flown under the radar, surprising McCoy and Southerlyn.
