In 1920, Franklin Roosevelt campaigns for the vice presidency, appearing destined for an even greater future. However, his life takes a dramatic turn when he is struck by polio. For seven years, he battles the disease, unable to regain his ability to walk, while Eleanor forges her own path in both personal and political realms. FDR makes a comeback in 1928, and his dynamic response to the early stages of the Great Depression leads the Democratic Party to nominate him for the presidency.
