The Messiah (S01E01)

Set twelve years after the original Dune miniseries, this episode depicts Duke Paul Atreides as the reigning emperor. During a sudden assault, he suffers blindness but relies on his prophetic visions to navigate his surroundings. His partner, Chani, has given birth to twins, Leto II and Ghanima. When danger threatens the children, Paul taps into Leto's perception to protect them, sacrificing his own psychic abilities in the process and becoming entirely sightless. Following Fremen traditions, he ventures into the desert, entrusting his offspring to the care of his sister, Alia.
