Secrets of the London Underground

Gloucester Road (S04E09)

S04E09

Tim and Siddy rendezvous at Gloucester Road, located in London's museum district, a station that caters to the Circle, District, and Piccadilly lines. Originally constructed as two distinct stations, the more impressive part dates back to the 1860s. Tim discovers an original footbridge that still offers views of the contemporary platforms and a tucked-away area showcasing the brickwork of the early tunnels. Meanwhile, Siddy investigates the later station, designed by Leslie Green in the early 1900s, where original tiles and remnants of the lifts can still be spotted. They also check out a now-closed platform transformed into an art gallery. Later, Siddy heads to Goole in Yorkshire, where 70 new Piccadilly line trains are being built. She gets a behind-the-scenes look at the factory and boards a new open-plan carriage that is being equipped with air conditioning.
