Ruthie feels humiliated after Vincent’s new girlfriend, Margot, mocks her for wearing thrift store clothes at "Second Hand Rose." Upset, she rushes to the bathroom, where she finds Martin's girlfriend, Zoe, recovering from fainting while two girls assist her. Zoe reveals that her family struggles to afford food and asks Ruthie to keep it a secret. When Martin later breaks up with Zoe due to her arrogance, she mistakenly believes Ruthie has betrayed her trust. Meanwhile, Kevin struggles to find time alone with Lucy, who is preoccupied with their daughter, Savannah. Eric and Annie suspect that Sam and David are pretending to be ill to sneak late-night snacks, while Sam feels overshadowed by the attention David receives.
