Andy unintentionally stirs up trouble when he confronts Everwood’s beloved Amanda Hayes (Anne Heche), unaware that she has devoted the last five years to caring for her severely disabled husband (guest-star Jason Beghe). Meanwhile, Jake catches Nina off guard by inviting her on a date. Ephram and Bright come to the realization that their bond might be beyond repair. At the same time, the ever-anxious Dr. Abbott grapples with the pressure to create a medical invention after discovering that Dr. Brown and Dr. Hartman have already found success with their own innovations.
