In the series finale, Rick and Beau journey to the River Avon, nestled at the base of Old Sarum, one of Britain’s most significant historical landmarks near Salisbury. After defeating King Harold at the Battle of Hastings in 1066, William the Conqueror constructed a formidable motte and bailey castle at Old Sarum in 1067, where he is thought to have received the notorious Domesday Book. From this point, Rick and Beau trace the path of the Avon, mirroring the history of the population and the revered cathedral, which was relocated piece by piece downstream to Salisbury.
