In this edition of our Japanophiles series, we share engaging conversations with expatriates residing in Japan. A highlight of Okinawa, Japan's southernmost region, is awamori, the island's iconic alcoholic drink. Recognized as the oldest distilled spirit in Japan, it is typically aged in ceramic containers. Paul Lorimer, a potter who has called Okinawa home for 36 years, crafts an array of ceramics, but he is particularly known for his exceptional vessels designed specifically for aging awamori.
