The Solomons find themselves in an alternate universe set in New York City, where Dick is a successful lawyer, Sally pens a provocative sex column, Harry holds the position of NBC President, and Tommy shines as a star on Saturday Night Live. Despite their success, Dick feels discontented as he searches for Mary. His quest leads him to a basement bar, where he finally encounters her—now a struggling actress turned torch singer who goes by Kiki Lyle. At the same time, Sally learns that Don is the Mayor of New York, but unfortunately, she is not his girlfriend; she is merely his mistress.
