In the landlocked Sahel nation of Mali, Dan explores the magnificent Great Mosque of Djenna and discovers the Dogon tribe's ancient rock paintings along with a ceremonial dance mask at Sanga. His adventure then takes him north through the desert landscapes of Libya, where he visits the Roman ruins of Leptis Magna in Tripolis and the Berber granary at Gasr Al-Hajj. Finally, he heads east to Egypt, the land nourished by the Nile, where he marvels at the Great Pyramid of Giza, admires the burial mask of Pharaoh Tutankhamun in the Cairo museum, explores Queen Nefertari's tomb in Luxor, and visits the Edfu temple dedicated to Horus.
