Gary receives an urgent assignment from the paper to prevent John Hernandez from dying in a car accident. After successfully saving him, the paper shifts its narrative, indicating that Hernandez plans to kill prosecutor Rachel Stone, who previously convicted him. Confused by the paper's motives, Gary rushes to the courthouse to intervene, but Hernandez escapes, leading to Gary's arrest. When he attempts to warn Ms. Stone, she dismisses his claims due to his reluctance to disclose his source. Meanwhile, Hernandez knocks out Chuck and steals his car. Later, the paper alerts Gary that Hernandez will strike again at Stone's residence, prompting him to rush there, only to find Hernandez has taken both him and Ms. Stone hostage.
