Sister Mary dedicates her life to mentoring at-risk youth in the inner city, yet she struggles with doubt about her impact and her faith as she sees many young lives spiral into crime and violence. Meanwhile, Gary steps in to guide a young boy named Marcus, who is at risk of falling under the influence of his recently released brother, Kareem. Kareem, intent on steering Marcus toward a life of crime, is hostile to Gary's efforts to protect the boy and keep him on a positive path.
