The Hart family grows increasingly worried as Van spends his Sundays glued to the TV, immersed in football instead of going to church. After several unsuccessful attempts to coax him into attending, Reba and Barbra Jean confront him about his choice. Van reveals that he has lost his faith, leaving them both disheartened. In an effort to rekindle his spirituality, they take him to see Reverend Parks, who explains that he can't assist those who aren't seeking help. In a moment of vulnerability, Reba confesses to the Reverend that she too has struggled with her beliefs.
