Since 1968, a father has mourned his son, missing in Vietnam. When the remains are finally discovered, the town turns its back, and no one attends the funeral. Determined to honor his son’s memory, the father seeks to create a scholarship in his name, but townspeople, keen to forget the war, resist the idea. However, Jonathan intervenes, invading their dreams and reminding them of the sacrifices made by the son—like taking the place of a drafted man and saving the life of the banker’s child. Eventually, the scholarship is established. Jonathan encourages the father to express gratitude to God, leading him into an old bomber plane. As it ascends, Jonathan fades away, replaced by the son, and they embark on a journey together.
