A gruesome murder appears to be broadcast online, leaving detectives questioning its authenticity. The next day, Sheppard, recovering from her recent assault, receives the call about the body. With Lewis missing, she teams up with Bayliss. Meanwhile, detectives Bonaventura and Austin discover that the victim was a witness they questioned just the day before regarding an online murder hoax. As they learn of another murder set to occur at midnight, they scramble to piece together the evidence.
