Gee brings Bayliss into the monk's murder case, much to Lewis's annoyance, as Munch steps back. Lewis and Bayliss adopt contrasting investigative strategies, with Bayliss ultimately confronting the real killer, resulting in a deadly standoff that leaves him grappling with his dual identity as a Buddhist and a police officer.
