While at a restaurant, Alex unexpectedly encounters his ex-wife, Phyllis, who is dining solo. When she attempts to reconnect, he kindly declines her overtures. The following day, Phyllis shows up at the garage looking for Alex, but he’s away driving. In the meantime, Louie manages to set up a date with Phyllis, who is feeling particularly vulnerable after her recent divorce. When Alex hears about this from Louie, who is gloating, he grows concerned for Phyllis’s well-being and heads to her hotel to check on her. Unfortunately, he arrives too late, finding Louie there, trying to charm Phyllis, which she finds repulsive. Alex then takes Phyllis out for dinner, leaving Louie stranded and exposed in her hotel room.
