Joannie takes charge of a talent show to raise funds for the orphanage where she volunteers, encouraging her entire family to participate. Meanwhile, Nicholas insists he's spotted a UFO, but his claims are met with skepticism from everyone else. Eventually, it's revealed to be a prank pulled by local kids. Abby performs an original song titled “SO-LA,” with music by Jim Hurt, Ira Newborn, and Betty Buckley, who also penned the lyrics. David shares his own creation, “Eight is Enough,” written by Molly-Ann Leikin and set to music by Lee Holdridge, which later replaces the original theme song for the next season.
