While most deceased plants and animals decompose and integrate into the soil, certain remains transform into fossils. This process begins when an organism dies and is subsequently buried. Under ideal conditions, water seeps into the burial site, initiating chemical reactions that preserve the impressions for eons. Fossils can take various forms, including animal imprints, black carbon outlines, solidified bones, or even entire organisms encased in ice or amber.
