MacLeod's longtime friend, Kit O'Brady, arrives in town hoping to find a winning racehorse and turn his fortunes around. Their history dates back to the Gold Rush days in San Francisco, where Kit owned the Double Eagle Saloon. After losing the establishment to Amanda in a poker match, he has held her responsible for his misfortunes and even sworn to take her life. When Amanda unexpectedly reenters MacLeod's life during Kit's visit, he finds himself struggling to prevent a deadly confrontation between them.
